Maybe this will provide another perspective.
Comment from a professional musician who played in her concert:

I say the way she defends herself may be a type of personal ego...
She probably was saying that because of the 八卦記者s, but for many of us, defending ourselves is not a good attitude for learning/working with others?

Thanks Anson for the alternative perspective. And thanks Peter for the possible explanation of the context of that phrase.
I have no discrimination against Stephy. I don't buy her CD, but I have nothing against her either. So, this is just 對事唔對人。
As a professional singer, I guess to sing in the right pitch is a basic must. That's 本份。 If you cannot sing in the right pitch (I'm not even requesting "good" singing...), then at least you probably shouldn't host a concert.
We cannot accept a cook who refuse to guarantee that the food he/she cooks is safe to eat, why can we accept a singing who cannot guarantee singing the right pitch?
And I'm not pointing this only towards Stephy or anyone. I guess everyone of us we need to be responsible for our profession by (at least) meeting the minimum acceptable standard of quality. Publicly declaring that you will not do so is an insult to your profession and to your customer.
Again, I'm only talking about the quoted phrase, but have nothing against this particular singer. We cannot even be certain that Stephy had said that phrase. So, 以事論事而已。
