A 2005 assessment of employee health found that 30% of Cisco's nearly 50,000 workers had more than two health risks. "A lot of those risks were related to being overweight, unhealthy meals, and sedentary lifestyles," says Dr. Pam Hymel, Cisco's director of corporate medical programs.
Hymel's prescription was a companywide program called HealthConnections that incorporates fitness centers, diet and exercise coaches, and meal-planning help. [...] Cisco estimates that the program will save the company $160 million in health-care costs by 2010.
