Blood On Our Lips
Sometimes I get these random images in my head.
Lately I have been thinking that there’s too much artificiality in life, in church, in Christendom.
We are very far removed from that hyper-real, visceral reality. We are the polished systematics.
We don’t have blood on our lips
(that organic, salty, distinctive taste mixing with our saliva grazing our tongues)
And today I took communion,
and my mind moved to a new phrase:
We Live Because His Blood is On Our Lips.
