Just come back from the memorial service of Dr. Robert Webber, someone I have never met but altered my life. The service is so special because:
1. It is planned and programmed by Bob himself
2. It is not focusing on the dead man but indeed a worship to Jesus Christ. It is all about God.
Come now, thou greatest of feasts on the journey to freedom eternal;
Daeth, cast aside all the burdensome chains and demolish the walls of our temporal body,
the walls of our souls that are blinded,
so that at last we may see that which here remains hidden,
Freedom, how long we have sought thee in discipline, action and suffering;
Dying, we now may behold thee revealed in the Lord.
- Dietrich Bonhoeffer, from Letter and Papers from Prison, as quoted on the cover of the bulletin of Webber's memorial service.
Amen.
